“10 red ballons have been hidden around the U.S. and you have to find them. How long would it take you? Could you do it in 4 weeks , 6 months, a year? MIT Media Lab’s Dr. Riley Crane took that challenge, which last month was presented by the Pentagon’s DARPA, and with his team, used social media to accomplish the task in just 8 hours and 52 minutes!
“Coca-Cola and Unilever are shifting their digital focus away from traditional campaign sites and towards community platforms, such as Facebook and YouTube, as social media begins to dictate their marketing activity in 2010.” Read more at: NewMediaAge.
Will more brands follow? Probably. They move to where the customer is. Jakob Nielsen wrote about this long time ago “Users spend most time on other sites” and talked about early websites like “roman camps” without any interactions with other websites. Coca Cola’s social media policy is only 3 pages (keep it simple!) – available at the ViralBlog.

Per Robert Öhlin excellent blog (partly in english) is about branding and creativity. His new project is a book about creativity – The Mental Orgasm – and I am really looking forward to read it… From his blog: “…Salvador Dali, the surrealist painter, who nailed the difference between a madman and himself: the madman thinks he is sane, while Dali said he knew he was mad.” Years ago I went to see Dali’s Exhibition in Spain (Figueres) and it was of course amazing… like walking inside his surreal mind of creativity.
Another quote from Öhlins’s blog: “Ray Bradbury went further. Way further. The famous science fiction writer encouraged us to stop thinking. He believed that thinking is the chief enemy of creativity. Because it’s self-conscious, and anything self-conscious is lousy.” According to my teacher in meditation – Osho – stop thinking is of course so true, if you want to connect to your creative inner self. Osho says: “If your act is your love-affair, then it becomes creative. Small things become great by the touch of love and delight.” Osho describes well the obstacles or blocks to creativity – this link is a nice read! Or buy his thoughtful book on on creativity “Unleashing the forces within” (what a cool title!) – I have read it many times. Also: The Independent wrote an interesting article on the creative mind – and how it links to mental illness…

Seneca: “There is no great genius without a tincture of madness.
Have a nice NO THINKING day!
